TUC Students Advocate For Healthcare And Education That Is Inclusive, Informed, And Humane

In 1972, Timmy Thomas – African-American, one of 12-children, rising R&B singer – released a what would become an iconic anthem. In it, he asked:

“Tell me why, tell me why, tell me why, Why can’t we live together? Everybody wants to live together. Why can’t we live together?"

Fifty years later, and despite a slew of progress and change, a new generation continues to ask the same questions while continuing the fight for inclusion, understanding, and acceptance.

Osteopathic Medicine Earns 10-year Accreditation

VALLEJO - Touro University California took time Thursday to celebrate its College of Osteopathic Medicine following a piece of great news. The Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) announced Thursday that it has awarded the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University California (TUC) and Touro University Nevada (TUN) “Accreditation with Exceptional Outcome,” according to a letter sent to the Deans of those respective programs.

Ultrasound imaging, however, is being employed to a greater and greater extent to give physicians a look at more than just bundles of joy, including potentially life-threatening conditions that may require quick intervention.

Based on all of the toothpaste and mouthwash ads most people have seen, fluoride is a key to strong teeth, a beautiful smile, and a healthy mouth. Turns out those dental hygiene ads forgot one small thing: good oral health is a critical reflection of our overall health.

A recently published article by the Surgeon General called oral health, “a mirror that reflects your overall health and well-being.”

Sister Act

To call the Cyriacs a tight-knit family might be a bit of an understatement. When student-pharmacist Cinita Cyriac graduates in May, she will have a unique privilege that not many graduate students get. Doctoral degrees are distinguished by their colorful hoods that denote the area of study. Presenting this hood to the graduating doctor is often thought of as a high honor. In Cinita’s case, she bestowed that honor to her sister, Benita.
