The Joint MSPAS/MPH program has taken steps to give current PA students as much of that experience as possible through some realistic simulations held at the end of November and into early December that were designed to help students understand the chaos inherent in the emergency department. Fellow alum and current program director Joy Moverley knows the students can handle the medicine aspect of the simulations. PA alumnus Lisa Thomas, who works in emergency medicine, helped serve as a preceptor for the simulations and could really relate to everything these students experienced. While the PA program is generally focused on primary care, work in the emergency department is not too far away from that core, Thomas said. The simulations, which Moverley helped design with three other PA programs, are constructed to do exactly what Thomas said. #womeninhealthcare #physicianassistant #paweek2022 #PAschool #medicine #health #healthcare #HealthSciences #HealthScienceProgram #publichealth #publichealthmatters #californiahealth #CEPHCertified #highereducation #accreditation #CEPH #ThisIsPublicHealth @tourouniversitycalipas @aapaorg @paeaonline

"The TUC MSMHS program prepares students academically for what to expect as first-year medical students. Completing the program strengthened my research skills and increased my public speaking confidence, allowing me to present my poster at a national conference. Touro provides a great learning environment and countless opportunities to serve and improve the community through programs such as #MOBEC, Pharm2Home, and @projecthappytouro. Through these experiences and being a member of the @diabetestuca, I had the privilege to serve, lead, and teach @solanopublichealth residents. With the impact I can make as the current Pharm2Home Coordinator, I am motivated to pursue my dream of becoming a great #DO physician to continue improving the health and lives of my future patients. I am excited to continue this journey at TUC!" - Cherry Myung #mastersdegree #medicalsciences #publichealth #DOProud #medicalschool #osteopathicmedicine #healthsciences #biomedical #researchcenter #healthcare #MCAT #NationalDPP #DiabetesPrevention #PreventDiabetes #PreventType2Diabetes #Prediabetes @amdiabetesassn @niddkgov
As a first-generation student, Chandani had quite an adventurous journey ahead of herself. She attended the University of the Pacific, where she studied Biological Sciences. Her older sister, Dr. Puja Khana, graduated from Touro University of California in 2009 and shortly after, she opened her own independent pharmacy – Remedy Rx. By seeing her sister interact with patients and performing pharmacist duties, she really saw the capabilities that came with the title. In addition, Chandani observed the difference that pharmacists make in the world. Chandani early committed to Touro University of California and became a part of the Class of 2023. Chandani was fully aware that this was not the end of her journey; she knew she wanted to do more. Fast forwarding to today, Chandani is currently applying for a pharmacy residency program. She wants to take her passion for helping others persevere through their adversities to a place of strength. #RemedyRx #LocalCompoundingPharmacy #WeAreRoseville #IndependentPharmacy #PacificPride #wearetouro #TUCCOP #DeanJimScott #YouStandByUsAll #pharmacistlife #clinicalpharmacy #CSHP #pharmacylife #pharmacypodcast #USPhArmy #firstgeneration @ashpofficial @aphapharmacists @aacpharmacy @accp @remedyrxpharmacy @chanz0529 @universityofthepacific

SASHA (South Asian Student Health Association) is devoted to investing in South Asian Community Health through selfless service and education. Through school-wide events with keynote speakers, we hope to empower students on how to deliver efficient and effective health care to patients of diverse populations. SASHA holds "Chai Chats" where there are informal discussions on a variety of topics such as mental health, how to navigate professional school/residency as a person of South Asian descent, etc. Additionally, they hold social events such as board game night and Diwali for the student body to learn more about South Asian Culture, destress and meet fellow students. One of the most popular events every year is their annual Diwali celebration. Students can enjoy kosher snacks and drinks while mingling with Touro Students across all programs. Students also receive traditional oil lamps to decorate and take home to light on Diwali, the festival of lights. #medicalsciences #publichealth #DOProud #medicalschool #osteopathicmedicine #healthsciences #womenshealth #nursingschool #socialjustice #programinnovation #Diwali #southasiancommunity #southasian #womenofcolour @sasha_touroca
