Public Health Certificate
The Public Health Leadership Certificate at the Touro University California College of Pharmacy prepares PharmD students to develop and lead pharmacist-provided public health services.
Through focused coursework and experiential learning, you will learn how pharmacists design, implement, and evaluate services that improve population health, expand access to care, and strengthen the role of pharmacists within healthcare systems.

This certificate is completed alongside the PharmD curriculum and does not extend time to graduation. It allows students to build leadership and service development skills while progressing through the PharmD program.

Courses and Experiences
Contemporary Topics in Pharmacy Management, Part A
PRMC 639a – 1 credit
This elective course explores leadership and management topics in pharmacy practice, with an emphasis on service development and innovation. Students examine how new pharmacy services are developed and implemented and explore leadership approaches used in successful pharmacy practice models.
Contemporary Topics in Pharmacy Management, Part B
PRMC 639b – 1 credit
This course builds on the concepts introduced in Part A and focuses on communication and dissemination of pharmacy services. Students develop professional presentations, written reports, and other materials related to leadership and service development.
Experiential Component: APPE in Leadership or Public Health
PRMC 865 or PRMC 866 – 6 credits
Students complete an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) focused on leadership, management, or public health services as one of your elective APPE courses. These experiences may occur in community or health-system pharmacy settings that offer innovative patient care services or population health programs.
Eligibility and Requirements
PharmD students in good academic standing may apply during the P1 or P2 year.
Students must earn a grade of B or higher in the following required PharmD courses:
- PRMC 644
- PRMC 651
- PRMC 657
- PRMC 663
Students complete the certificate requirements while progressing through the PharmD program.

- Confirmation that eligibility requirements have been met or are in progress
