On Sunday, September 15, 2024, Touro University California (TUC) College of Pharmacy celebrated a significant milestone for the Class of 2027 with their White Coat Ceremony. Thirty-six students, embarking on the rigorous three-year PharmD program, were honored as they donned their white coats, symbolizing the start of their professional journey into the field of pharmacy. Family, friends, faculty, and mentors gathered to witness this important moment in their academic and professional careers.

Dr. Catherine Cone, Interim Dean and Associate Dean of Assessment for the College of Pharmacy, shared, “The Pharmacy White Coat ceremony is symbolic of your entry into the profession of pharmacy. It is a great moment to reflect on the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and passion toward your dream of becoming a Pharmacist. The White Coat represents your commitment to the profession of pharmacy and to the trust that patients will place in you.”

As each student proudly donned their white coat, they embraced not just the knowledge and skills they would gain, but the responsibility to serve with integrity, compassion, and excellence. Dr. Cone reminded the students of the challenges ahead, “There will be moments that will test your resolve, challenge your knowledge, and require you to dig deeper than you ever thought possible. In these moments, you will find your true strength and purpose.”

The ceremony also featured a heartfelt speech from TUC College of Pharmacy alumna Dr. Fatima Sadat, Class of 2016. Sadat shared her own experiences as a pharmacy student and encouraged the new cohort to persevere, knowing that the rewards of becoming a pharmacist would be well worth the effort.

Dr. Cone also encouraged students to embrace the mission of Touro University: “To wear this White Coat, you promise to serve, to lead, and to teach. Wear this White Coat with pride and confidence, and let it remind you every day of the incredible potential you have to make a difference!”

With the support of their peers, faculty, and alumni, the Class of 2027 embarks on an extraordinary journey, ready to reach new heights in the field of pharmacy.
