Alums Sweep Medical School’s Student Board
Program Grads Hold All 10 College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Executive Council Positions
Alums from the College of Osteopathic Medicine’s master’s degree program swept all 10 spots in elections early in the spring semester for the College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Executive Council board for 2024-2025.
Student Doctor Muhammad Iqbal (MSMHS Class of 2023) is President of the COMSEC board.
Iqbal says the Master of Science in Medical Health Sciences faculty members empower students to achieve and push themselves to greater heights by creating positive change and making an impact as they progress through their careers. That includes being a force for change within the University as MSMHS alums move into the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.
“MSMHS is an incredible program, not just for its role in building a foundation for medical knowledge but also its unique emphasis on cultivating effective learning strategies,” Iqbal says. The MSMHS faculty members “cultivate a culture that champions leadership and advocacy,” he says.
This year’s other Student Doctor representatives are:
- Ximena Vallejos Nunez (Class of 2023), Vice President of Academic Affairs;
- Faaiz Ibrahim (Class of 2023), Vice President of Admissions;
- Lovepreet Johal (Class of 2023), Vice President of Student Affairs;

The work in student leadership is both personal and professional for Iqbal.
“I have a genuine interest in making a positive impact within the school and community. I feel very passionate about addressing issues that affect my peers, advocating for their needs, and implementing initiatives to improve the overall experience for everyone involved,” Iqbal says. “Additionally, student leadership roles offer opportunities for personal growth and development, as individuals are often tasked with responsibilities such as public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving.”
