It's a Match!
TUCOM Residency Match Day 2026

This morning, the air at Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUCOM) carried more than the familiar notes of eucalyptus, wild turkeys, and California sunshine. It carried the unmistakable energy of the future of medicine. At 9 AM PST, the Class of 2026 celebrated National Match Day and reached the culmination of a high‑stakes journey as they learned where they will begin the next phase of their medical careers.
This next generation of Osteopathic Physicians secured residency positions across top programs in California and throughout the nation, marking an exciting new chapter for TUCOM and its future physicians.
The Class of 2026 matched into 18 specialties across the medical spectrum, including primary care, osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, neurology, anesthesiology, general surgery, pathology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, dermatology, neurosurgery and radiology.

This year’s graduating class expanded TUCOM’s national presence, matching from Ft. Lauderdale to Spokane and from San Ysidro to Boston, with nearly 70% remaining in California to continue their training.
“The Class of 2026 exemplifies the very best of osteopathic medicine, distinguished by academic excellence, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to whole-person care. Their Match outcomes reflect both individual achievement and a shared dedication to advancing health and serving communities with purpose. We are extraordinarily proud of these future physicians and confident they will carry forward Touro’s mission to improve lives and advance health in the communities that need them most, shaping the future of healthcare in meaningful and lasting ways."
— Dr. Tami Hendriksz, Dean, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Campus Provost, Touro University California
Reflecting TUCOM’s commitment to primary care and whole-person osteopathic practice, 51% of graduates will serve communities through family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. This includes 11 DO/MPH dual‑degree graduates prepared to advance community health, criminal justice reform, and global health through policy, advocacy, and population‑focused leadership.
The Class of 2026 also continued TUCOM’s distinguished legacy in the Match for osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine, a training specialty within the osteopathic philosophy. TUCOM is the only osteopathic medical school in the nation to match into this specialty each year for the last five years, reaffirming its standing as a national leader in osteopathic medicine.
After years spent mastering the complexities of the human body, the TUCOM Class of 2026 is ready to bring the osteopathic philosophy to life. These future physicians stand prepared to show that true health is more than the absence of disease. It is the alignment of mind, body, and spirit.
Following months of applications, interviews, and careful ranking, students eagerly await this life‑changing moment that determines where they will begin the next phase of their medical training. The National Resident Matching Program uses a sophisticated algorithm to pair graduates with residency programs by aligning student preferences with program selections.
“Today was about far more than the Match algorithm. It was a celebration of the long nights, the sacrifices made by our students and their families, and the dedication of the faculty who supported them every step of the way. We are profoundly proud of their success and the strength they bring to our healthcare system. They are strong, brilliant, and deeply committed healers.” said Drs. Walter Hartwig and Denishia Clark, Director and Associate Director of Enrollment Management and Student Success. “These healers are ready to step forward with purpose as they trade their short white coats for long ones, and we could not be more honored by their success.”
For the past five years, Match Day has been celebrated in a virtual format. This year marked its inaugural return to an in‑person ceremony, supported by a hybrid option that allowed TUCOM Class of 2026 students and their loved ones to celebrate together from anywhere. The enduring tradition of Match Day honors the years of dedication, resilience, and ambition invested by medical students.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. Your journey as physicians is just beginning, and the world is ready to receive the holistic and compassionate care you are prepared to deliver.
