The TUC Public Health Program’s Health Equity and Criminal Justice (HECJ) Concentration is hosting an impactful symposium on Sunday, September 22, 2024, to discuss the California Racial Justice Act (CRJA) and its role in combating racial disparities within the criminal justice system. The symposium will gather legal experts, public health professionals, and community advocates to discuss this significant law that prohibits the state from seeking or obtaining a criminal conviction or sentence based on race, ethnicity, or national origin.

The TUC Public Health Program’s HECJ Concentration’s mission is to prepare public health and healthcare professionals to respond to this crisis by examining ways in which systemic racism and discrimination fuel justice involvement and evaluating collateral consequences and criminal legal policies at the local, Tribal, state, and federal levels.
