Research & Community

Research studies and community betterment help us to further our community and the world.

Your gift increases our ability to reach out to those in need around us. In addition to community betterment, your gift may also support our researchers to explore new scientific frontiers and give our students invaluable real-world experience.

The Gift of Research

Research studies help us further our understanding of our community and the world. From research on obesity and cardiovascular inflammation to communicable diseases, Touro California researchers are committed to remaining at the forefront of scientific breakthroughs that enhance our students’ laboratory experience.

The Touro California Research Fund

The TUC Research Fund is a designated fund whose purpose is to enhance our teaching and research opportunities. Through this fund, we hope to advance our research in new directions. You can provide needed funding for disciplines that are traditionally underfunded and support those faculty members who are junior in rank. These funds can also be used to increase applicants’ competitiveness for subsequent funding. You can invest in Touro California’s programs and research by providing gifts for immediate use or by creating an endowment fund – an endowment that provides funding for the most promising or pressing initiatives in research.

The Endowed Research Chair

Touro University California’s Endowed Research Chairs are used to attract faculty members who can advance research, help pay for student workers, and create opportunities for collaboration. If you are interested in establishing an endowed chair at Touro California, you can create a single fund endowment to develop a particular area of research. As the donor, you may establish this endowment as a general fund or specify a specific research initiative. The Research Chair Endowments can be named for you or for a special person to you.

The Endowed Research Start-Up Fund

The Touro California Endowed Research Start-Up Fund provides the needed funding to recruit faculty and new research agendas of specific strategic importance. To establish this fund, Touro California seeks to raise $2 million which will enable the Deans, Associate Deans for Research, and department chairs to support initiatives that will make an immediate impact. This endowment will defray the costs of equipment and space, start up the research, and involve the students right away. Endowments can be established at any time through a one-time gift or may be paid over multiple years, up to five. Once created, the endowment’s principle may be supplemented by you or anyone else at any time.

The Gift of Community

Your gift increases our ability to reach out to those in need around us. Touro California is committed to supporting the community in which we live and work. For example, our joint partnership with Solano County Public Health has served to bring high-quality, cost-effective care to Health and Social Services patients by placing specialized Touro medical staff and students in county clinics.

Student-Run Free Clinic

Touro University California is proud of our free health clinic, organized and staffed by the students with onsite, direct supervision by a licensed clinician. Your donation to this clinic will help our students in their efforts to provide reliable and accessible care for those in need in the community. A full 100% of your donation supports the clinic and the work the students do for the community.

Mobile Diabetes Education Clinic

Touro University California's Mobile Diabetes Education Clinic (MOBEC) brings free diabetes screening and education to the people of Solano County. Entirely funded by donations and a grant to Touro University California, we aim through the use of this mobile education center to break the barrier between health care providers and community members in the prevention of diabetes.

Drug Safe Solano

Touro University California's Drug Safe Solano provides education, resources, and training to help reduce the impact of the opioid epidemic. Drug Safe Solano has also worked with the Solano County Board of Supervisors to approve an expansion of MAT in the Solano County jails.
