TUC Earns Major 8-Year Accreditation Boost
WSCUC Reaffirms Mare Island campus through 2034

Touro University California (TUC) received a major vote of confidence from regional education officials this month, securing an eight-year accreditation renewal that cements the university's position as an anchor of healthcare education in the San Francisco Bay Area.
“This significant achievement reflects the Commission's confidence in our institution, our mission, and our commitment to academic quality,” said Dr. Tami Hendriksz, Campus Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Touro University California. “This reaffirmation is not simply recognition of where we are today. It is a foundation for where we are headed."
The WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), the official body that evaluates major universities across California and Hawaii, finalized the decision after a rigorous, multi-day review on the historic Mare Island campus. The eight-year term represents a significant validation of the school's fiscal health, academic programs, and student support systems.
During the evaluation, the commission specifically highlighted TUC’s student-first culture, praise that resonates deeply with campus leadership. Regulators noted that the university consistently uses hard data to improve daily operations, while fostering an environment where faculty, staff, and students have a clear voice in how the school is run.
Credit to the successful outcome of a years-long, collaborative effort was led by Dr. Meiling Tang, Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness at TUC, alongside dozens of faculty members and students who compiled reports and hosted the visiting evaluation team.
With its institutional backing secure throughout the next decade, TUC is positioned to expand its footprint in Solano County and beyond.
