Dr. Jay Shubrook Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Jay Shubrook, Professor and Director of the Diabetes Institute at Touro University California, has received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists. The national honor recognizes his career dedicated to diabetes prevention and expanding care access within primary care settings.
For decades, primary care clinics have served as the front lines for treating chronic illness, yet managing complex conditions like diabetes often remains a challenge for most clinicians.
Dr. Shubrook has dedicated his career to changing that reality.
By equipping primary care clinicians with the training needed to manage metabolic conditions locally, his efforts help patients receive early interventions and ongoing metabolic management from their regular clinicians, reducing the need to travel long distances to see other specialists.
Over his career, Dr. Shubrook has authored hundreds of scientific publications to help practicing physicians navigate complex chronic care. He serves as Deputy Editor of the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Care, and he was the Founding Chair of the American College of Diabetology, an organization created to advance diabetes training for primary care clinicians.
