The Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUCOM) Class of 2025 just matched into some of the most competitive and prestigious residency programs in the country—and we couldn’t be prouder!

This year’s students landed residencies in 14 specialties, from pathology to child neurology, and radiology to general surgery. The Class of 2025 stands out for the breadth of residency placements both within disciplines, such as Family Medicine - a record-breaking 26 different programs – and within communities in need, such as Oakland and Stockton (25% of all TUCOM matches). Even more impressive, nearly 75% of the class is staying right here in California to serve the communities that raised them, trained them, and now need them most.

That’s not just a stat. That’s a promise fulfilled.

“The Class of 2025 has demonstrated remarkable dedication, resilience, and passion for patient care, and their impressive residency placements are a testament to their hard work,” said Dr. Tami Hendriksz, Campus Provost and Chief Academic Officer, and Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine. “They are not only shaping their own futures but also the future of healthcare, especially in communities that need them most.”

True to TUCOM’s mission, over 60% of graduates matched into primary care – a crucial step toward expanding healthcare access and improving outcomes in underserved areas. Among them: nine dual-degree DO/MPH students, trained in both medicine and public health, who will bring a population-level lens to patient-centered care.

TUCOM’s legacy in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine (ONMM) also continues to shine – this class matched in ONMM at four times the national rate based on enrollment.

Match Day is more than a milestone; it’s a launchpad. After years of preparation, TUCOM grads now begin the next chapter: intensive residency training over the next three to five years. Whether they’re headed to Miami, Seattle, or staying local, they’re taking their skills, compassion, and grit with them.

“It will be nice to come back to the place I grew up and serve the community that I grew up in,” said Student Doctor Gabriel Escudero, who matched into Internal Medicine in the Ventura area. “I’m really excited to be at a program that’s a great match for my personality and goals. I rotated there, so I’m looking forward to seeing the people I worked with before.”

Among the many joyful moments of the day was Student Doctor Megha Patel’s reaction after learning she had matched into Internal Medicine in the Oakland area.

“I’m going to be in the Bay Area, where I was born and raised!” she said excitedly. “I’m so grateful and so happy to have matched into one of my top choices.”

This year marks a double celebration: not only the launch of TUCOM’s 2025 class but the graduation of our 25th cohort of osteopathic physicians, bringing our total alumni to over 3,000 strong. That’s 3,000 healers, changemakers, and leaders, each one a part of TUCOM’s growing legacy in medicine.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025. They’ve matched, they made history, and yet, their journey is just beginning.
