CME Sessions for DOs Set for Spring, Summer
Faculty Members Schedule Classes Targeting OMT, HVLA Skills

Three Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine alums have scheduled CME trainings this spring and summer to enhance the skills of participating osteopathic physicians.
A one-day session is set in April. A separate seminar will span several days in July.
Renowned Lecturer Comes to Region for Seminar
Dr. Yvonne Yang, DO Class of 2018, is offering two courses in July that feature special guest Dr. Edward Stiles for a seminar titled, “Dr. Edward Stiles’ Osteopathic Approach to the Whole Body.”
The first course, “Diagnostic Approach: Sequencing by Area of Greatest Restriction,” takes place July 14-16. The second course, “Treatment Approach: Functional Still Laughlin Technique,” takes place July 16-18.
The courses are designed to show participants how to clinically approach any patient regardless of specialty, medical issue, or resources in the most patient-specific way, and with the participant’s current level of proficiency.
Yang said participants will learn how to integrate blending palpations to treat patients utilizing the collective wisdoms of the Still-Laughlin-Stiles mentorship lineage. Those who take part in the courses should see clinical improvement from uniquely sequencing OMT according to each patient’s individual trauma history, without having to learn any new OMT techniques, Yang said.
Stiles established the first hospital-based OMT service in the country in 1973. He later developed the first five-level OMT coding system in conjunction with Medicare. Stiles travels around the country teaching small group seminars on various OMT approaches.
A total of 40 CME hours, 20 per course, are pending approval.
The courses will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area. The venue has not yet been set.
