Institutional Student Learning Outcomes Assessment

Touro University California has developed four Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs), of which one will be focused on each year. The ISLOs are as follows:

To exemplify Judaic values of social justice, intellectual pursuit, and service to humanity, Touro University California students will demonstrate:

  1. Professionalism appropriate to their chosen field(s) of study.
  2. Collaboration across disciplines or communities towards achieving common goals.
  3. Fundamental knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential to their professional roles.
  4. Effective communication through respectful and equitable practices.

To ensure the assessment of Student Learning Outcomes is sustainable, meaningful, and becomes part of the institutional culture, TUC formed the Institutional Assessment Committee (IAC). The committee provides leadership and assistance in developing and implementing university-wide assessment policies, procedures, and activities.

Program Review

Academic Program Review

All academic programs at Touro University California are subject to systematic program review. The program review process is designed to evaluate and enhance the quality of academic programs through a focus on student learning outcomes, evidence-based decisions, and integration with institutional planning. This reflection on assessment results allows for programs to make evidence-informed conclusions regarding their performance and evidence-informed decisions in proposing major programmatic changes or in requesting resources.

TUC Academic Program Review Committee (APRC) leads the institutional systematic program review process. These reviews may be coordinated with, but are independent of, the periodic reviews of educational programs conducted by professional accrediting agencies.

Administrative Unit Program Review

The efficient and strategic functioning of administrative units is paramount to the successful realization of a university's mission, academic objectives, and student-centric goals. The administrative unit review offers universities the opportunity to not only assess the internal operations of these units but also to gauge its effectiveness in enhancing the overall student experience and fostering an environment conducive to learning and research. At Touro University California, the systematic review of these units enables the institution to enhance its support services, ensure compliance with educational standards, and align administrative processes with the institution's overarching vision.

The review of administrative units involves a comprehensive analysis encompassing factors such as workflow efficiency, resource allocation, compliance with educational policies and regulations, student satisfaction, and the integration of technological advancements. This review facilitates the identification of areas for improvement, the enhancement of administrative support for academic initiatives, and the optimization of resource allocation to align with institutional priorities.
