“For a long time, I struggled with fully embracing my Latina heritage. Growing up in the United States, I often found myself caught between two worlds, the traditions and values my parents brought from Mexico and the pressures to assimilate into American culture. It was not until later in life that I began to truly connect with and take pride in my Latinx identity. As a proud Latina from the Central Valley of California, my journey has been shaped by the sacrifices, resilience, and love of my parents, who came from Mexico to give me and my sister opportunities. Being a second-generation immigrant has provided me with a profound sense of responsibility, to honor my roots while carving out a future that embodies the values they instilled in me.” Visit the link in our bio to discover more about @tucomcalifornia student Stephanie Ramos’ journey!
