A graduate of Touro University California’s College of Pharmacy is among a select group of peers to serve as a Fellow for a statewide professional association.

Dr. Keri Hurley-Kim (Dual PharmD-MPH Class of 2013) was honored as a Designated Fellow during the California Pharmacists Association’s 2024 Awards Ceremony that took place in April in Las Vegas.

She is among a cohort of four designated Fellows.

Designation as a CPhA Fellow signifies that Hurley-Kim has made significant contributions to the organization and to the profession that go far beyond regular pharmacy practice, the organization says.

Fellows “have demonstrated sustained contributions and excellence in pharmacy practice, professional leadership, teaching, professional advocacy, and community engagement,” the agency says.

“I’m not sure how I got so lucky to be part of this professional family, but I could not be prouder to be a member and Fellow of CPhA,” Hurley-Kim says. “We find ourselves in a time when our profession and our ability to provide vital care is under attack from corporate pharmacy chains, PBMs, and a system badly in need of reform – a time when profits are too often prioritized over patient care and the well-being of pharmacy professionals.”

“But in this time, our state pharmacy organizations give me hope,” she says. “CPhA shows up again and again to stand up for pharmacists, our patients, and the communities we serve, not just with words, but with action, even when our national organizations have not done so in a meaningful and consistent way.”

Strong Background in Pharmacy Education

Hurley-Kim is a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Irvine, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and is a Clinical Pharmacist for Saban Community Clinic in the greater Los Angeles area. She served previously as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Pharmacy Practice at West Coast University, and as a Clinical Pharmacist with Eddie’s Pharmacy in greater Los Angeles.

Dr. Jim Scott, Dean of the TUC College of Pharmacy, worked with Hurley-Kim during her residency.

“Her professionalism and dedication to patient care and the progress of the profession are motivating to many, many people in the California pharmacy community, not just her students,” Scott says.

Designation as a CPhA Fellow “serves as a highly visible way to promote public awareness of pharmacists who have distinguished themselves within CPhA and the profession,” the organization says.

TUC’s Academy of Student Pharmacist Chapter was recognized by the state pharmacists’ association as a 2024 Chapter of Excellence during the event in Las Vegas.
