He recently helped TUCOM move very quickly to certify that our students were capable of working safely within the recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) for COVID 19. Dr. Whitlow and the COM worked with National Disaster Life Support Foundation and Advanced Hazmat Life Support to provide a basic/advanced primer on disaster preparedness/response for all four years of DO students via the EDLS course from NDLSF and the AHLS course specific for our students called “AHLS with COVID19 for TUCOM”. He was awarded the AHLS International Award for Excellence in Innovation in Education for his work in integrating the AHLS course into a Covid related certificate course into a medical school basic science and clinical curriculum.
