Biography
My name is Paul Gonzales (pronouns: he/him) and I served as full time didactic faculty at Touro University California’s Joint MSPAS/MPH program from 2020 until 2022 when I joined the Clinical Year side as Clinical Coordinator. My clinical work includes pediatric neurology and now urgent care medicine. I’m originally from Austin, TX, but completed my PA education at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX. I decided to join PA academia as an early career PA because I found that helping students understand difficult concepts is meaningful to me. I also want to serve as a representative for others who identify and look like me to know that they belong and can thrive in the PA profession. I lecture in medicine, pharmacology, clinical applications on various topics in PA practice; I previously co-coordinated the psychiatry course and technical/surgical skills. I assisted with the development and implementation of the Joint Program’s Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program into our curriculum. I currently serve as admissions co-chair and director of recruitment for our program. I am the author of the "PA Rotation Exam Review" book. I volunteer as a board member of the PA Foundation Scholarship and Grants Committee and previously served as an Education Chair for the LBGT PA Caucus. I am fortunate to have such a supportive faculty and leadership at my institution who encourage me to grow and be my authentic self.
