Second Booster Eligibility Expanded in Solano County

FAIRFIELD — Those who are eligible for a second Covid-19 booster shot has been expanded in Solano County to include anyone who is 50 or older, and anyone 12 or older with immunocompromising health conditions.

“Vaccination and getting a booster remain the most effective methods to combat Covid-19,” Dr. Bela Matyas, the county public health officer, said in a statement released Thursday. “Stay home if you are sick and continue to wash and sanitize your hands frequently.”

The minimum interval between the first and second boosters is four months. The approved booster is Pfizer.

“Individuals 18 years and older with moderate and severe immunosuppression are also eligible for the Moderna vaccine. Individuals with moderate and severe immunosuppression may wish to consult with their healthcare providers as they make their decision concerning the receipt of a second booster dose of these vaccines. The more layers of protection, the better,” the statement said.
