Research broadly focuses on mechanisms mediating physiological adaptations to physical activity (exercise). Recent studies have examined the ability of Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) to clear blood lactate after high intensity exercise. Other studies include (1) comparison of low versus moderate intensity exercise for normalizing postprandial glycemia and (2) effects of caffeine-enriched energy drinks on resting metabolic rate. In addition to exercise adaptations, the laboratory is interested in educational research. Ongoing study correlates surveyed personality traits with objective academic performance and professional career choice.
