2/8/2010 In Memory of Dr. Bernard Lander
It is with profound sadness I announce that President Bernard Lander died this evening after a long illness. He was an exceptional visionary and leader and we will miss his presence and guidance.
The Chairman of the Board has directed that we close all of our campuses on February 9, 2010 to demonstrate our respect for the founder and, until his death today, the only President of Touro University. Therefore, the campus will be closed except for security personnel who will report as usual. No classes will be held, but the Glen Cove Clinic will remain in operation and will continue to see patients.
Dr. Lander’s funeral is scheduled for February 9, at 11:00 a.m. in NYC.
With regret,
Michael Harter, Senior Provost and CEO
