Touro clears campus as 4-alarm fire rekindles on Mare Island

A wildfire on Mare Island that started Wednesday rekindled at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Vallejo officials report.

The Vallejo Fire Department called a four-alarm response due to high winds in the area and received assistance from several area fire agencies, including the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

There were no reported threats to residences or other structures on the island. However, out of an abundance of caution, administrators at Touro University California canceled all classes and campus activities and sent everyone on campus home around 2:25 p.m.
