In collaboration with Napa Valley College, eight students from that two-year college were selected to participate in the Touro University California Summer Research Program, where they worked with Touro professors on graduate-level research in fields like
cellular and molecular biology, epidemiology, and chemical sciences.
“Interns often build from their experience at TUC to enroll in four-year programs
that lead to careers in research and health-related professions,” the university said.
“For example, 2011 intern Eric Lee went on to graduate from San Francisco State University
and now researches infectious diseases. 2012 intern Sylvia Mendoza-Villalovos went
on to graduate from UC Davis with a degree in Plant Sciences and now works in the
field for Solano County. Over the past nine years of this event TUC has helped almost
60 students see a place for themselves in the scientific community in a research or
health-related profession.”
