Touro offers multiprong approach to diabetes outreach: Medical Guide 2018

It was from a pew at Emmanuel Temple in Vallejo where Donald Darnell Thompson, 44, first heard about the Diabetes Education and Empowerment Program that was going to be offered at his church.
At the time Thompson, who had been diagnosed with diabetes in his early 30s, figured,
“Why not join?” He had stopped monitoring his diabetes for fear of rising numbers,
so when the DEEP surfaced, he couldn’t say no. Looking back at what the six-week program
did for him, Thompson says the class may even have saved his life.
