PA Program awarded Song-Brown Grant

Congratulations to Grace Landel and Julie Charles of the Joint MSPAS/MPH program on their successful work in obtaining a $185,000 Song-Brown Grant.

On January 13, 2016, the Touro University California Joint MSPAS/MPH Program was awarded grant funding from the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development. The funds will be used to increase the provision of quality healthcare across the state of California in four ways: by encouraging students to work in areas of unmet medical need by providing stipends to offset travel and lodging costs to students rotating at clinics that provide services to medically underserved populations; by providing extended training in mental health in primary care, in a setting that includes clinically-practicing physician assistants; by providing training in the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program; and by providing two projects designed to provide academic assistance to incoming and current struggling PA students. The entire $185,000 request was granted. This is the ninth consecutive such grant awarded to the PA Program.
