Delaying Cell Senescence: Drug Repositioning and Functional Pathways for Interventions Accumulating in vivo evidence indicates that the increase in number of accumulating senescent cells with time could play a role in the aging process. Therefore, delaying cell senescence may be a viable strategy to modulate the physical and cognitive decline that occurs with age. Our research suggests a combined activation of the energy and cellular defense pathways may be favorable target for an anti-senescent intervention.
