FREE DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR TUC EMPLOYEES

Are you interested in becoming part of a campus cohort for the National Diabetes Prevention Program? If so, classes begin on October 12th at noon and meet every Monday thereafter for a year.

But first … Touro will provide another free diabetes screening this Friday, October 2nd, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the lobby of Lander Hall. Please stop by and get your screening done if you’re interested in becoming part of the cohort!

The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is an evidence-based program that has shown to reduce the risk of diabetes by nearly 60% in those at risk. This program is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and consists of a year-long program that helps participants make real lifestyle changes. These modifications include eating healthier, implementing physical activities into their daily lives, and improving problem-solving and coping skills.

The DPP classes are typically offered with a fee if taken elsewhere, so grab this opportunity if you’re interested! Want to participate? Have a question? Please contact Dr. Jay Shubrook at Jay.Shubrook@tu.edu.
