The Office of Student Services and the Associate Dean of Students work with students on critical issues of professional growth and development. Sometimes this is student initiated and sometimes it is initiated by faculty or staff concerned about a students development as exhibited by that student’s behavior. The Associate Dean will typically create the necessary interface between the faculty and staff and the student with regard to conduct issues. Students need to familiarize themselves with the expectations that the University, as well as their particular program, have for them as they progress at the University. These expectations are covered in the Student Handbook. You need to be familiar with its contents. The Student Handbook is on the website and it is available in hard copy in critical offices and is located in the library as well.
Clearly, student progress in professional education means far more than the simple completion of coursework and the successful negotiation of internal and external examinations. The student must demonstrate maturity, professional judgment, integrity, respect and the ability to treat all others appropriately, regardless of the situation. The Associate Dean of Student Services will both defend students’ rights to fairness and due process as well as to uphold the legitimate expectations that the University holds for student conduct on and off the campus.
