Touro University Staff Named a 2018 Woman of the Year by Congressman Garamendi

Vallejo, CA (October 26, 2018): Congressman John Garamendi’s 2018 Women of the Year award publicly honors outstanding women of the Third Congressional District who have improved the quality of life of their communities through their work or volunteerism. This year, the Woman of the Year distinction was given to Touro University California’s Dr. Gail Feinberg for her service to the Solano County community. Dr. Feinberg is the Chair of Primary Care for Touro University where she trains medical students in providing care to underserved populations and serves as the medical director of the Student-Run Free Clinic and diabetes research program. Dr. Feinberg also sees patients once a week at Solano Health Centers and is a supervising mentor at the Global Center for Success.

Each year, Congressman Garamendi’s office solicits nominations from the community for women who deserve to be acknowledged for their selfless work. This year, Dr. Feinberg was one of fifty exemplary women from the Third Congressional District who was selected to receive the 2018 Women of the Year distinction.

“It’s humbling to be recognized with so many extremely creative women who are giving back to their communities…who are going above and beyond so that their County can succeed,” said Dr. Feinberg.

At the fifth annual event, Congressman Garamendi presented the 2018 Women of the Year with Congressional proclamations that will be preserved in the Library of Congress.

“One of the highlights of my year, every year, is hosting this event to recognize the achievements of these distinguished women,” Garamendi said in the press release. “These leaders come from a variety of backgrounds, but every one of them has made a real difference to their communities and the people around them. It’s a privilege to be able to honor them.”

TUC Provost Sarah Sweitzer further acknowledged that “this award recognizes Dr. Feinberg’s tireless efforts to improve the quality of life for many in Solano County.” The Touro University campus community is dedicated to its service to the local community and is thrilled that Dr. Feinberg has received this honor.
