Touro University California taking newly launched Mobile Diabetes Center on seven-city tour in July to address critical health needs of community
During the month of July, Touro University California’s state of the art Mobile Diabetes Center will be hitting the road to address the ever-growing numbers of those suffering from diabetes in California and encourage early education and intervention.
Currently more than 29 million Americans have diabetes with 90% of those suffering from Type 2. One-third of people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes suffer complications by the time they are diagnosed. In California, 55 percent of the population is currently diagnosed as having pre-diabetes or diabetes. The result is a state and a nation desperate for prevention and resolution. Early detection allows those at risk to take the necessary steps to lessen the impact of the disease and potentially prevent it from developing.
To address these, Touro established a mobile education center. The recreational vehicle, which has been retrofitted into a full mobile healthcare and education facility, will visit seven cities in July providing a variety of services including screenings, prevention services, education, demonstrations, training and more.
AVAILABLE VISUALS/INTERVIEWS FOR MEDIA:
