Touro University California hosts 9th annual zombie run/walk to benefit Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve & the Greater Vallejo Recreation District
(Vallejo, CA - September 15, 2015)
Celebrating its ninth year, the Touro University California zombie run/walk will kick off the fall season while raising money for two community causes. Students, faculty and staff encourage the community to join them in their best zombie attire and makeup for a ghoulish morning of fun and fitness.
Registration fees from the event will benefit the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve, a 215-acre park located at the south end of Mare Island on land that formerly served as the U.S. Navy's first Naval Ammunition Depot, founded in 1857.
In addition, the Greater Vallejo Recreation district will benefit from the walk/ run as it helps to further provide recreational activities and leisure services to the citizens of Vallejo. The District’s services include organizing and managing sports programs for both youth and adults, before and after-school programming, classes and a variety of special interest events.
Immediately following the run/walk participants and guests are encouraged to join the Touro University California team in the Lander Hall Gym for a health festival and award ceremony. Volunteers from the student-run free clinic will be on-hand to offer blood pressure checks, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) demos and more.
