Mini Medical School at Touro University Offers Vallejo Students a Glimpse into Medicine

(Vallejo, CA – March 2, 2012)- Vallejo elementary children will be offered a rare chance to step inside the shoes of medical students thanks to a Mini Medical School provided at Touro University California.

The American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians Club at Touro is providing an interactive, fun-filled field trip for elementary school children of Vallejo beginning March 7th through the 15th from noon to 1 p.m. at the Forest Service Building at 1323 Club Drive on Mare Island.

“The Mini Medical School is a chance to introduce children to the idea of a future in medicine and a future in science,” said Julia Kuznetsova, first year Osteopathic Medical Student and chapter president of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians at Touro University California. “It also introduces Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine to the students, a healing modality that children might be able to teach their parents.”

The event, hosted by medical students and the pediatric faculty at Touro University California, will offer children the opportunity to see Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine demonstrations, learn how basic physical exams are performed, listen to the heart beat through a stethoscope, and learn how to create a volcano science experiment.
